Video and GIF Reporting
Gary Gaspar
We’re considering a feature to allow video and GIF issue reporting, similar to Loom, to improve bug tracking and website issue submissions.
Current Alternative: Session Replay Videos
Automatically capture and replay user actions right before an issue is submitted, giving developers clear context without needing extra input from reporters.
Why This Matters:
- For Developers:Easily replicate and resolve bugs with a visual walkthrough.
- For Reporters:Automatically captures and submits the video without any further set up required.

Hey there, was this new feature postponed?
Gary Gaspar
Christian Fricker Hey thanks for your follow up on this Christian. Ever since we introduced Session Replay (more info here: https://marker.io/blog/session-replay) we found that a lot of users actually prefer this solution. Which is why video recording has been postponed for now. Couple of questions:
- Have you tried Session Replay yet?
- If yes, why do you think Video recording is still important to you? Can you give an example?
Christian Fricker
Gary Gaspar
- No, I haven't tried it yet. Is it possible to do so?
- No, I haven't, but I have a couple of customers who like to leave feedback with video recordings while they explain the issue, enhancement, or new feature.

Christian Fricker:
Hi Christian,
Teams really love our Session Replay feature, and the best part is there is nothing additional for the reporter to do on their side. Take a look here:
Christian Fricker
Joe Scanlon Yes, I watched the video; it looks good. However, sometimes customers need to explain, and if it requires a long written response, it's not easy.
Gary Gaspar
Christian Fricker gotcha. Thanks for the context.
Session replay is only available on the custom plan. I tell you what. If you're interested, upgrade to the custom plan, and if in 30 days you don't find this feature (or the other team plan only features) useful, I'll switch you back to your plan and refund you the difference.
As for video feedback for your customers, I'm afraid that I don't have an ETA at the moment.

I see this feature was in progress last February and still pending. I am guessing it is a bit more complex than originally thought but I am in a trial now and very much in need of that feature. Any update? Thanks
Joe Scanlon
Dean Bozzano:
Hi Dean,
Thanks a lot for getting in touch. You are correct, this has been flagged for a while now, but the team wants to focus on improving a lot of our entire widget experience before implementing this. I can't give a timeline right now for video, but do expect a lot of improvements in the coming weeks and months.
Keep an eye on our changelog here:
After we launched Session replay video, we are seeing a lot of our customers love this as an alternative to video capture as it is all automated. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this feature.
Cheers,
Joe

Joe Scanlon: I saw that feature and think it is excellent for what it does and the information it provides but not a substitute for a 2-3 minute explainer of a problem or bug that almost everyone uses Loom for today. Would be great to have that built-in. That being said, this is an excellent product as is.

is there an eta on this as yet? keen to consolidate into your app fully :)

Screen video recording has officially been planned! You will soon be able to record video when reporting bugs and feedback through the website widget!
We have plenty of cool ideas for this feature. Feel free to share anything that might make video recording even better!

Gary Gaspar:
Would love to see this
1- Please have this feature as part of the Starter plan (even if there is a 5 minute recording limit or something)
2- It is far far too common to record a loom/video and not have the audio in it. Please place a little audio input volume meter during the recording
3- Whenever I've used web powered video recorders, selecting the right audio input can be annoying/hard/through the browser. if possible, please make that ux easy.
Gary Gaspar
Zubair Lutfullah Kakakhel: This is brilliant insights!
- Video recording will be on all plans, including starter :)
- This is such a good idea! Thanks for sharing. Noted!
- Couldn't agree more!

First of all, great work on the launch of the new Session Video Replay. This is going to be a very helpful feature for us. It appears that Canvas Elements are not supported in the video recordings. Are there any plans to extend support for canvas elements?
Gary Gaspar
Erjon Metohu: thanks for the positive words! Bad news is that Session Replay is not able to record Canvas and WebGL content.
That being said, we the video screen recording feature, the reporter will be able to record a video that captures those type of content.
Erjon Metohu
Gary Gaspar: thanks for the response Gary. So is the video screen recording feature going to be different from the Session Replay? I thought it was all the same, which is why I commented in this thread.
As far as Session Replay being unable to record Canvas and WebGL content, is that a browser tech limitation or has your team not built support for that yet?
Gary Gaspar
Erjon Metohu: Session replay and video screen recording are 2 different features.
With Session replay, reporters don't have to do anything, as everything is recorded in the background.
With Video screen recording, the reporter will be able to hit record, annotate and narrate on top of the video.
As for Canvas & WebGL not being supported in the Session replay video, that mostly a tech limitation. There might be a workaround, but it's going to be too complex to do. Not sure we will do that
Erjon Metohu
Gary Gaspar: Got it! Thanks for the explanation and quick response.
