Make Screenshot Optional
planned
Gary Gaspar
- Allow users to submit feedback without requiring a screenshot
- Add a configuration flag in the snippet code to disable automatic screenshot capture
- Provide a "no screenshot needed" option or the ability to remove the screenshot during issue creation
- Users could optionally add their own images if desired
Problem Solved / Use Case
- General feedback collection: Sometimes feedback doesn't relate to a specific visual element, feature suggestions, high-level requests, or new webpage ideas can't be meaningfully captured in a screenshot
- Streamlined workflow: Currently, users must take a full-screen or random page screenshot even when it's irrelevant, making tickets harder to understand and slower to create

Yes please to this! We're considering using Marker as a replacement for our support ticketing system but can't really do this while it forces inclusion of a screenshot

Even just the ability to remove the screenshot in the issue creation step could go a long way and is maybe an easier lift? Then the reporter could remove the image, and either leave it blank or add their own outside image (which that part already exists)

Yes please! 🙏 We often have feedback that does not require a screenshot.

We are moving all client to leave feedback in one place, this feature would be very helpful

Sometimes the screenshot is more annoying than it is helpful especially when you want to use the widget as a feature suggestion or something high level

That would ne great as its then possible to just use marker.io also as normal feedback tool. Perhaps it would be also nice that then the users can just vote with stars for exmaple inside the feedback...
Thats general necessary as sometimes you have a testing environment to show to a customer where users then can give feedback but not should be able to document bugs...
